Introduction

The Government of Pakistan and United States of America recalling the close ties in scientific and technological cooperation signed an agreement to create a UAF-US Collaboration for Strengthening Agriculture Academia and R&D Faculty Development, Technology Transfer and Product Commercialization (FDTTPC) Program to reap the mutual benefits of agricultural research through joint research projects and exchange of scientists. Under this agreement, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) has established an Endowment Fund.

Research and Development
This component was included during 2011 and was restricted to R&D in view of Dengue outbreak in the country. At present limited funding under this component is available to support Research & Development projects in the areas of applied research. Product Commercialization
EFS provide funding on matching grants basis to commercialize innovative products/technologies developed at UAF in collaboration with the private industry and entrepreneurs. A Business Incubation Centre (BIC) has also been setup which provides startup business facilities to selected incubates/companies where help and assistance is also provided to protect the Intellectual Property Rights of the researchers/scientists through patents and copy rights before commercialization of products. The interested investors/entrepreneurs may collaborate with EFS to invest and develop/start companies for commercialization of innovative university products. Scientists/Researchers may also apply for funding on the prescribed format to EFS. Read More

Technology Transfer
Under Technology Transfer component, funds are provided to meet all the operational and developmental expenditure through competitive grants with the focus on Technology Transfer. This is an opportunity for the scientists to get financial support for transfer of technologies, developments or improvements made after extensive research, to the stakeholders. Project proposal under this component may be submitted keeping in view that project should be aimed at Technology Transfer which is the main focus and mandate of EFS. Pure research proposals are not accepted under this category. Proposals are processed following standard SOPs through TAC and BoD. Project proposals on prescribed format are invited once in a year.
